PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out energy discrimination in multi-slice computed tomography (CT). SOLUTION: An X-ray source (32) for carrying out the energy discrimination in an imaging system (10) includes a negative electrode irradiation device (82) irradiating electrons, and a positive electrode (81) having a target (80) in which X-ray beams (93) having a plurality of X-ray dose energy peaks (116 and 120) are generated when electrons are made incident. A method of making the energy discrimination in the imaging system (10) includes irradiation of electrons. The X-ray beams (93) having the X-ray dose energy peaks (116 and 120) are generated. The X-ray beams (93) are oriented through an object under test (44), and received.
