Image forming apparatus, wherein a process cartridge (7) and a developer supply cartridge (9) which is supplying developer to the process cartridge (7), are separably mountable to and dismountable from to a main assembly (100a) of the image forming apparatus. Each of the cartridges (7, 9) comprises an opening-closing mechanism to open and close shutters (35, 95, 65, 97) for opening and closing supply and receiving openings in order to avoid leakage of developer when one of the developer supply cartridge (9) or process cartridge (7) is mounted to or dismounted from the image forming apparatus. A mechanism is provided comprising a regulating member (68) on the process cartridge (7) which blocks the movement of the shutter (65, 97) in either a closed or open position. Said regulating member (68) interacts with an engaging members on the developer supply cartridge (9), thereby allowing to open and close the process cartridge shutter when the cartridges (7, 9) are mounted and dismounted, respectively. |
