INORGANIC EXTRAFINE FIBER SHEET AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide bulky inorganic extrafine fiber sheet having handling strength enough to be applicable to various uses, and to provide a method for producing the fiber sheet. SOLUTION: The inorganic extrafine fiber sheet has an apparent density of 0.1 g/cm3or less and a tensile strength per basis weight of 0.5 gf/5mm or higher at least unidirectionally. The method for producing the fiber sheet comprises the following process: Inorganic gel-like extrafine fibers formed by making electric field act on a sol solution are made to fly scatteredly and then irradiated with ions to get rid of their flying power to effect accumulation.
