PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly safe and economical yellow pigment having an excellent color tone because an antimony compound including Sb<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>and chromium (Cr) are not contained and to provide a method for producing the yellow pigment. SOLUTION: The yellow pigment comprises oxides of Ti, W, Ni and La as main components of raw material oxides, respectively and the content of the main components is≥90 wt.% based on the whole pigment. The contents of each oxide of Ti, W, Ni and La which are the main components converted into the oxide and expressed in terms of weight based on the whole pigment are as follows. 50-90 wt.% of Ti expressed in terms of TiO<SB>2</SB>, 5-30 wt.% of W expressed in terms of WO<SB>3</SB>, 4-30 wt.% of Ni expressed in terms of NiO and 0.5-10 wt.% of La expressed in terms of La<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>.
