PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CMS:Eu<SP>2+</SP>blue light-emitting phosphor whose luminescence intensity when exposed to a molecular beam irradiation of Xe<SB>2</SB>is improved. SOLUTION: The CaMgSi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>6</SB>:Eu<SP>2+</SP>blue light-emitting phosphor is obtained by heating and baking a powder mixture in a reducing atmosphere. The powder mixture contains a calcium source powder, a europium source powder, a magnesium source powder, a silicon source powder and a fluorine source in a ratio that produces the CaMgSi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>6</SB>:Eu<SP>2+</SP>blue light-emitting phosphor. The amount of fluorine in the fluorine source falls within the range of 0.023-0.048 mol against 1 mol obtained phosphor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
