PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform dubbing processing with satisfactory operability even if data do not include any time codes. SOLUTION: A microprocessor 11 comprises: an operation reception section 111 for receiving dubbing instruction input from a remote controller 2; an acquisition section 112 for acquiring moving picture information from a DV tape attached to a DV camera 3, when receiving a dubbing instruction input; a write section 119 for storing the moving picture information acquired by the acquisition section 112 into a DVD-RAM 100; an effectiveness determination section 113 for determining whether the moving picture information acquired from the DV tape includes a reproducible, effective moving picture; and a write prohibition section 115 for prohibiting the operation of the write section 119 when the effectiveness determination means determines that no reproducible, effective moving pictures are included.
