PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and camera system in which improvement in image quality can be attained by suppressing color rolling during photographing under a fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: Regarding an optical signal imaged through a lens 21, a stop is opened/closed by a mechanical shutter 22 installed behind the lens 21 and the quantity of incident light is adjusted. A light quantity controller 26 generates a control signal for adjusting the quantity of light using the mechanical shutter 22. In accordance with the detection result of color rolling by a chrominance signal processing circuit 251, the quantity of incident light is reduced, a luminance level is lowered and a shutter speed is decelerated, thereby suppressing color rolling. After color rolling is suppressed, the light quantity control device 26 controls the mechanical shutter 22 in accordance with a decision result from an optical detector 252.
