A molding tool is provided to improve abrasion resistance and obtain high hardness of the molding tool by having a coating layer made of diamond like carbon and forming an intermediate layer between the coating layer and the base of the molding tool. A molding tool has a coating layer made of diamond like carbon. An intermediate layer is formed between the coating layer and the base of the molding tool. The intermediate layer is deposited at a gas pressure of 0.2 to 0.5Pa and a thickness of 20 to 1000nm and satisfies formula 1~3, where formula 1 : 0.5<=a<=0.95 (a is the atomic percent of Si), formula 2 : 0<=x<=0.2 (x is the atomic percent of B), and formula 3 : 0<=y<=0.5 (y is the atomic percent of C).
