PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect occurrence of abnormal combustion with taking a state of accumulation of deposit in a cylinder into account as to a control device for an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a cylinder pressure sensor 34 for measuring cylinder pressure P of the internal combustion engine 10. The device compares combustion pressure waveform measured by the cylinder pressure sensor 34, and combustion pressure waveform of the cylinder pressure P estimated from an operation state of the internal combustion engine 10 (engine speed NE, load, and the like). An estimated value Gas<SB>unig</SB>of unburned gas quantity is calculated from difference between the estimated value and the actually measured value. The estimated values Gas<SB>unig</SB>of the unburned gas quantity of every combustion cycle are integrated for each cylinder of the internal combustion engine 10.
