PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for oxidizing a formed article, which is capable of oxidizing the surface and inside of the formed article containing a natural fiber, having a reduced number of steps, and capable of suppressing production cost. SOLUTION: This method for oxidizing the formed article containing the natural fiber includes the step of mechanically bringing the formed articles 2a, 2b and 2c containing the natural fiber into contact with an oxidation catalyst liquid 4 containing an N-oxyl compound, oxidation treatment of the surface and inside part of the formed article in the step to contain 0.1-2 mmol/g carboxyl group of cellulose constituting the natural fiber.
