A large two stroke dual fuel diesel engine is provided to prevent gas from being introduced into a gas system in a fuel oil operation of an engine by pressurizing the gas system up to normal operation pressure higher than the maximum pressure of a combustion room. A large two stroke dual fuel diesel engine equipped with a high pressure fuel gas injection system and a high pressure fuel oil injection system comprises a gas supply system(60) including an inert gas supply system(70). The gas supply system has a gas compressor(62) connected to a gas accumulator(63) through a gas conduit(64) including various shut-off valves(67) and gas vents(68). An inlet of the gas compressor is connected to a reservoir of fuel gas. The gas accumulator is connected to gas fuel valves through valves(69) forming a part of a valve block(65). The valve block is ventilated by a ventilation system(80) including a ventilation air intake connected to the valve block. The ventilation system has a hydrocarbon sensor. |
