The invention relates to a powder inhaler (1), consisting of an air-channel housing (3) having an accommodating cavity (32), in which a powder container (2) is arranged, wherein the powder container (2) has at least one chamber (25) for holding a powder dose (10). The chamber is bounded by a wall (21), which has at least one air inlet opening (23) and air outlet opening (23'), and the chamber is shaped and dimensioned in accordance with the accommodating cavity (32) of the air-channel housing (3). The air-channel housing (3) bounds at least one air channel, which connects an air inlet (31) to the accommodating cavity (32) and the accommodating cavity (32) to an air outlet (33), which is designed as a mouthpiece or nosepiece. The air-channel housing (3) is immovably formed with the air inlet (31) and the air outlet (33) at ends facing away from each other, and the air channel lies on an axis with the air inlet (31) and the air outlet (33). The powder container (2) has an actuating element (22), which is arranged adjacent to the at least one chamber (25). The powder container (2) can be transferred by means of the actuating element (22) from a blocking position, in which at least one closed wall segment of the wall (21) of the powder container (2) forms a barrier in the air channel between the air inlet (31) and the air outlet (33) of the air-channel housing (3), into a release position, in which a fluid path is released, which extends from the air inlet (31) through the air channel of the air-channel housing (3), through the air inlet opening (23), the chamber (25), and the air outlet opening (23') of the powder container (2) and through the air channel to the air outlet (33) of the air-channel housing (3).
