[Problem] To inhibit coating thickness on a ripcord for a cylindrical optical cable and improve workability. [Solution] This optical cable is provided with: an optical fiber unit having a plurality of optical fibers; an external envelope that accommodates the optical fiber unit in an accommodating unit and has a cylindrical outside shape; two tension members embedded in the external envelope; and two ripcords. When a first direction is a direction connecting the two tension members sandwiching the accommodating unit in the cross-section of the optical cable and a second direction is a direction crossing the first direction, the cross-sectional shape of the accommodating unit has a dimension in the second direction longer than the dimension in the first direction, and in the cross-sectional surface of the optical cable, the two ripcords are disposed so as to sandwich the optical fiber unit such that the direction connecting the two ripcords is the second direction. |
