A method, apparatus, and program product are disclosed for receiving a proximity input indicator signal associated with an information handling device, the information handling device comprising a display, determining a proximity of a user to the information handling device based on the proximity input indicator signal, and modifying one or more display settings of the information handling device in response to the determined proximity.

an information handling device comprising a display; a processor operatively coupled to the information handling device; an input module that receives a proximity input indicator signal associated with the information handling device in response to detecting that a usage mode of the information handling device changes between a laptop mode and a tablet mode; a proximity module that determines a proximity of a user to the information handling device in response to the received proximity input indicator signal; and a settings module that modifies one or more display settings of the information handling device based on the determined proximity.
