The invention relates to a method for preventing against diseases induced by Streptococcus pneumoniae infections, which comprises mucosally administering to a patient in need of a S. pneunmoniae capsular polysaccharide. This latter may be conjugated or not and is preferably mixed with a mucosal adjuvant such as cholera toxin, E. coli heatlabile toxin or Rhinovax(TM). A preferred route of administration is the intranasal route.
