PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television with a recording function that can automatically record a timer reserving operation etc., for a broadcast program that a television viewer can not watch from halfway or desires to watch without any operation done by the television viewer. SOLUTION: The television has a recording medium 107 where received information including video and audio of a television broadcast can be recorded and a sight line detection part 109 which detects the line of sight of the television viewer, and is provided with a sight line detecting and deciding means 103a of deciding whether the line of sight of the television viewer is detected by the sight line detection part 109 for a predetermined decision period and a recording starting means 103b of starting recording the received information on the recording medium 107 when the sight line detecting and deciding means 103a does not detect the line of sight of the television viewer for the predetermined decision period.
