PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a glass article substantially not using an arsenic oxide, an antimony oxide, a fluoride and a tin oxide as a clarifier, and to provide glass substantially containing no arsenic oxide, no antimony oxide, no fluoride and no tin oxide. SOLUTION: The method for producing a glass article comprises producing a glass article by melting, wherein substantially only cerium oxide is used as a clarifier.
