PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of efficiently removing dust stuck to an image pickup device unit. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus 10A comprises a yaw direction actuator and a pitch direction actuator 206 for moving the image pickup device unit Uc provided with an image pickup device 101 and a low-pass filter 108 in an X direction and a Y direction, and a posture detection sensor 135. When moving the image pickup device unit Uc and removing the dust stuck to the low-pass filter 108 in the imaging apparatus, the moving direction of the image pickup device unit Uc is set on the basis of the gravity direction detected in the posture detection sensor 135, and the actuator to be used for the movement is selected from the yaw/pitch direction actuators.
