PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle constituted compact with a simple structure capable of arbitrarily controlling difference of upper and lower temperatures and enhancing the maximum cooling performance by increasing an amount of air without increasing the performance of a blower. SOLUTION: In the air conditioner 1 for the vehicle, a cooling unit 5 and a heating heater 6 are arranged on an air passage 4, and a plurality of air blowing ports 9, 10, 11 are provided on a downstream side of the heating heater 6. The heating heater 6 is constituted by a plurality of electric heaters 6A, 6B arranged in a direction for shutting off the air flow passage 4, and the plurality of electric heaters 6A, 6B can be independently temperature-adjusted, respectively. On the air flow passage 4, a cooling air by-passing flow passage 7 by-passing through the electric heaters 6A, 6B and passing the cooling air is formed, and on the cooling air by-passing flow passage 7, a Max Cool damper 8 capable of adjusting the flow passage cross section is provided.
