The present invention relates to a display device and a manufacturing method thereof and, in particular, to a display device in which a shielding member and a thin film transistor are placed on the same substrate and a manufacturing method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the display device includes: a first substrate and a second substrate which face each other; a first thin film transistor which is placed on the first substrate; a second thin film transistor which is placed on the first substrate; a first color filter which is on the first thin film transistor and around the same; a second color filter which is placed on the second thin film transistor and around the same and displays a different color from the first color filter; and a shielding member which is placed on the first color filter and the second color filter. The shielding member includes: a first spacer which is placed on the first thin film transistor and the first color filter; a second spacer which is placed on the second thin film transistor and the second color filter; a main shielding unit which is placed around the first spacer and the second spacer; and a groove which is placed between the second spacer and the main shielding unit.
