Provided is a mechanical system to cope with an accident wherein a rope or a wire connected to a strip storage device is cut. According to the present invention, the mechanical system copes with cutting of a rope connected to the strip storage device for an STS continuous vertical annealing furnace installed in both in an input storage device (19) and in an output strip storage device (20) of a vertical annealing furnace. A rope (3) connects to a weight (108) and a strip storage device on both ends by a fixed roll (109) and a fixed driving reel (8), and the weights of the weight (108) and the strip storage device are balanced. An engagement bar (12) is installed on rails (7) of a storage car (4) in such a way that an engagement link (19) engages with the engagement bar (12) when the rope (3) is cut. |
