Disclosed is a method for diagnosing an increased risk of prostate cancer in a subject, comprising screening for a marker allele or haplotype within LD Block A, wherein the marker allele or haplotype is more frequently present in a subject having prostate cancer than in a subject not having prostate cancer, and wherein the presence of the marker allele or haplotype increases the risk of the subject having prostate cancer.
