The present invention concerns a tool ring 1 for fixing workpieces in a machine, which ring comprises a pair of rotatable rings whose opposite even lateral surfaces have been formed by a number of holding devices 8, 11 placed in such a way that an elongate workpiece 16 can be fixed essentially radially between a pair of holding devices in the said respective rings. At least one ring has a groove 4 shaped to receive holding devices and spacers 9, 10, 10', 12, whereby at least the holding devices have a convex surface 23, 33 for engaging with the matching surface 19 in the said groove. The holding devices 8, 9, 11 are placed at a distance from each other by the spacers, some spacers 10, 12 being positioned in the groove, whereby the positioning of the spacers is determined by the joint action of wedge surfaces 24, 25, 30, 31 on the tool. <IMAGE>
