PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bag forming machine for thin paper which prevents the occurrence of wrinkles. SOLUTION: The machine for forming a square-bottomed bag comprises a paper cylinder feeder for feeding a paper cylinder having gore parts which are folded, stuck, and infolded in an M-shape in its both side parts, a folding streak forming device for forming a folding streak for forming a square bottom in one end part in the conveyance direction of the paper cylinder, the first bottom opening device which opens one end of the paper cylinder in the surface back direction along the folding streak while the paper cylinder is moved along a rotating bottom folding drum, the second bottom opening device which pushes/opens a part opened vertically in the shape of flaps on the surface side and the back side along the folding streak, a press which presses each flap opened in a flap-shape in the shape of a plane, an applicator for applying paste to prescribed parts of the opened flaps, a folding device for folding flap pieces on the tip sides of the flaps on the surface side and the back side, and a folding device for folding/piling both flap pieces inside.
