<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine capable of diversifying the generating patterns of mist by an ultrasonic element. <P>SOLUTION: The washing machine 200 is controlled such that the amount of mist in a unit time fed by a mist generator 100 (a mist generating means) in a washing step is more than in a drying process in mist generating periods. Further, the amount of fed mist is controlled by changing the length of time in the unit time when the mist generator 100 feeds mist in the washing machine 200. The time when the mist generator 100 feeds mist is the time when a vibrator oscillates ultrasonic wave in the mist generator 100, and a mist valve which partitions the mist generator 100 and a water tank 214 is opened.
