PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) support method and its apparatus that can ensure exhaustivity of failure modes and failure effects, provide input support even when new failure modes and new parts are input, and easily suppress word fluctuations. SOLUTION: The FMEA support apparatus, which ensures the reliability of a product by predicting possible failures and extracting effects on the product and the causes of the failures, has function model data consisting of a function expansion representing functions implemented by the product and a part list, and an FMEA execution means having a failure mode input means for inputting failure mode nodes in relation to the function nodes, a failure effect node input means for inputting failure effect nodes in relation to the function nodes and a related part input means for presenting candidates for parts related to the failure modes.
