PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform effective control of an amount of take-up by considering the cleaning capability of a cleaning member. SOLUTION: The cleaning system 1 includes the belt-like cleaning member 3 which removes and recovers undesired materials by partly abutting on the surface of a heating roller 2, a take-up roller 5 which takes up the cleaning member 3, an index calculation section 210 which counts a printing rate per image information for each of a plurality of division regions dividing the maximum image forming region M with respect to a horizontal scanning direction along the horizontal scanning direction, and counts index values indicating the degree of contamination of an object to be cleaned in correspondence to the printing rate, a plurality of counters 220 which integrates the index values for each of the plurality of the division regions (m), and a fixation controller 200 which compares the maximum accumulated index value among the integrated index values and a reference value, and controls the amount of take-up of the cleaning member 3 based on the relation between the maximum accumulated index value and the cleaning capability upon making judgment that the maximum accumulated index value exceeds the reference value.
