<p>A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer program product for predicting initial gas production in a well (200). A cumulative amount of each gas species present in a gas sample taken from the well (200) is identified. A set of data points corresponding to the cumulative amount of each gas species (804-814) present in a gas sample for each gas species (804-814) is generated (1108). A Y-intercept value for each gas species is calculated (1114) based on the set of data points. A projected initial amount of the given gas species produced from the well (200) is presented. The projected initial amount of the given gas species produced from the well (200) is determined (1116) using the Y-intercept value. The Y-intercept value indicates a cumulative amount of gas for a given gas species (804-814).</p> |
