PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rail surface treatment method and a rail which can maintain sufficient electrical conductivity for a long period of time regardless of the kind of a rail and the kind of a railroad.SOLUTION: In a rail surface treatment method, a groove 3 is formed on the head surface of a rail 1, which comes into contact with a wheel of a train, under at least one condition of a predetermined width, a predetermined depth, and a predetermined shape. A brazing metal material 10 mainly containing silver is filled into and welded to the groove 3 under a predetermined temperature condition and a predetermined time condition, the welded brazing metal material 10 is spontaneously cooled, and the cooled brazing metal material 10 is polished so as to project from the head surface by a height equal to of less than a predetermined height. |
