A housing structure, particularly for an assist shaft 4 for a worm wheel 7 of a power steering motor, includes first and second housings 8, 9 each comprising bolt fastening portions 27, 28 with mating bolt facing surfaces 29, 30 and each supporting a shaft 4 by first and second bearings 13, 17. First housing 8 has a fitting inner tubular portion 21 with an inner tubular end surface 23 and the second housing has a fitting outer tubular portion 22 with an outer tubular end surface (24, Figure 3). A first gap C1 is provided between inner tubular end surface 23 and an inner tubular opposite surface (26, Figure 3), and a second gap C2 is provided between the outer tubular end surface and an outer tubular opposite surface (25, Figure 3). A thrust load on shaft 4 causes fitting tubular portions 21, 22 to separate in an axial direction preventing contact between each tubular end surface and its respective tubular opposite surface. |
