1. An information handling system comprising:
a housing; a processor disposed in the housing and operable to execute instructions that process information; memory disposed in the housing and interfaced with the processor, the memory operable to store the instructions and information; a power manager disposed in the housing and operable to manage power applied to the processor and memory; a connector port disposed at the housing and interfaced with the processor and power manager, the connector port having data and power pins to interface data and power with a connector cable; and first and second guide connectors disposed at the housing on opposing sides of and external to the connector port, the guide connectors operable to accept guide pins coupled to the connector cable, the guide pins providing a power and ground interface; wherein the power manager detects guide pin insertion into the guide connectors and, in response to the guide pin insertion, initiates power transfer through the guide pins to simultaneously receive power from both the connector port and the guide pins.
