Device and method for lead failure detection

A device is provided configured to detect a lead failure condition for a lead (20) having at least one electrode (31, 32) in contact with body tissue wherein the lead (20) is connected to the device (10) comprising a first filter (120) to filter a electric signal sensed by the at least one electrode (31, 32) to a first filtered signal and a lead failure detection unit (150) that is configured to detect signal characteristics of the first filtered signal. A lead failure condition is indicated by the lead failure detection unit (150) if said detected signal characteristics correspond to the step response of said first filter (120). A corresponding method is provided as well.
