PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of a diesel engine which can favorably suppress the generation of smoke.SOLUTION: A control device changes a control condition of a fuel injection valve 12 so that in-cylinder pressure and an in-cylinder temperature at prescribed timing before fuel injection are specified on the basis of a measurement result of the in-cylinder pressure by an in-cylinder pressure sensor, a volume V of a space in a cylinder in which air having an amount which coincides with a multiplying result of a required injection amount and a target air-fuel ratio exists is calculated by using the specified information, an arrival distance L of a spray which is formed in the cylinder when spraying a required injection amount of fuel to the fuel injection valve in a standard condition is calculated, and when the arrival distance L is longer than a minimum distance h at which the spray arrives at a fuel chamber wall, a total sum of volumes of a plurality of the sprays which are formed in the cylinder by the required injection amount of the fuel injection reaches the volume V, and the arrival distance of each spray reaches the minimum distance h or shorter.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
