<p>PURPOSE:To substantially eliminate image distortion and a different error so as to enable an excellent image to be stably displayed by providing a blowing means for circulating gas between a display panel and an outer case. CONSTITUTION:A fan (blowing means) 117 is provided between a display panel 100 and an outer case 115 so that air is taken in from outside the display panel 100 to forcibly create cooling airflow. As dust is removed by a filter 118, cooling air introduced from the outside by the fan 117 is allowed to advance following the flow indicated by the index line 116 to cool a substrate (rear plate) 201, while the temperature of the cooling air rises. Thereafter, the cooling air circulates around a face plate 205 and the temperature of the plate 205 approaches that of the cooling air through heat exchange. As a result, the temperature difference between the substrate 201 and the plate 205 decreases, the distribution of temperatures inside the panel 100 becomes uniform, the difference in the amount of thermal expansion between both plates decreases, and heat distortion decreases, whereby image distortion and a different error can be prevented.</p> |
