<p>PURPOSE: To enable orthodontic treatment without an archwire ligature, by engaging a bracket body that extends forward from a base with a sliding member which is movable between an open and close positions where an archwire slot is opened and closed, and elastically activating the member. CONSTITUTION: A bracket 10 which is suitable for the orthodontic treatment of lower teeth consists of a bracket body 11 and a sliding member 12 as a lock assembly that engages in the bracket body 11. Formed in the bracket body 11 is a rectangular archwire slot 20 with an open face which passes through the body 11 and receives an archwire having a rectangular section. The sliding member 12 consists of an elastic thin plate and has been fitted in a recess 23 formed near the center of the front of the bracket body 11. When this fitting is made, the sliding member will deflect forward due to a button 33 formed near the center of the back of the recess 23, overpassing the button 33 to be locked at the close position.</p> |
