PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair detergent composition that retains hair color with reduced discoloration and lowered irritation, when the hair dyed with hair dyes is washed. SOLUTION: The objective hair detergent composition comprises an amphoteric surfactant represented by formula (1) (wherein R<1> is a hydrocarbon group of 7-17 carbon atoms), an anionic surfactant represented by formula (II) (wherein R<2> is a hydrocarbon group of 1-17 carbon atoms; M is an alkali metal) and water and the pH is 2-7.
