PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation system and a display method in the navigation system capable of providing information desired by a user, at necessary timing, and a program related thereto. SOLUTION: This navigation system 1 has a storage means 13 for storing map information, an azimuth detecting means for detecting a position and a moving direction of a moving object, a display control means for displaying on a display means 17 the position and the moving direction of the moving object detected by the azimuth detecting means, while correlated with the map information, and a direction detecting means for detecting an indication of the moving direction from the moving object, in a just near branched route existing along the moving direction from the present position of the moving object, and the display control means displays the map information corresponding to the moving direction from the branched route detected by the direction detecting means, toward an upper direction of the display means.
