PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a start safety device of a simple structure, which makes a shut off member automatically shut off and open an engagement end part of a cranking shaft with interlocking with operation on a clutch operation member, and a start safety device constructed to make the clutch operation member uninterlock with operation on the shut off member. SOLUTION: The start safety devices 100, 100' are provided with: the shut off member 100; a first energizing member 120; and connecting members 130, 140, 150. The shut off member is retained in an open position by energizing force of the first energizing member when clutch operation members 230, 230' are positioned in a clutch shut off position. The shut off member is rocked from the open position to the shut off position with resisting against energizing force of the first energizing member by artificial operation force applied to a clutch operation member when the clutch operation member is artificially operated from a clutch shut off position to a clutch engagement position.
