PURPOSE: A damping apparatus for an exhaust valve is provided to prevent cavitation in a hydraulic exhaust valve actuator of a large diesel engine by allowing hydraulic oil to easily flow into a damping cylinder through a check valve installed in a damping piston. CONSTITUTION: A damping apparatus for an exhaust valve comprises a horizontal passage(1) with both ends open which is formed inside a damping piston(5101) to receive hydraulic oil, a vertical passage(2) which is formed from the horizontal passage to the bottom of the damping piston, and a check valve(3) which is installed in a specific position of the vertical passage and opened downward according to a pressure difference so that hydraulic fluid flows into a damping cylinder(5102).
