TRANSMITTER, RECEIVER, SIGNAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM, AND SIGNAL TRANSMISSION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit a three-dimensional image signal that includes a two-dimensional image signal and depth information thereof using a conventional dual-link signal transmission system without deteriorating the gradation of the two-dimensional image signal.

SOLUTION: The signal transmission system to be disclosed includes: a transmitter 101 that transmits one of the signals obtained by demultiplexing the two-dimensional image signal S11 to a link La, and multiplexes and transmits the other signal and the depth information S21 to a link Lb; a receiver 201 that receives one of the above signals of the two-dimensional image signal S11 from the link La, receives the other signal of the two-dimensional image signal S11 and the depth information S21 from the link Lb and demultiplexes both, and outputs the three-dimensional image signal SR1 that includes the two-dimensional image signal S11 obtained by synthesizing the demultiplexed signals of the two-dimensional image signal S11 received from the links La and Lb, and the separated depth information S21; and a signal transmission section 30 having the dual links La and Lb.
