PURPOSE:To obtain a recording material giving a clear negative or positive image only by exposure and simple heat development without producing unnecessary waste or using a developer by housing a compd. having an electron accepting group and a photosetting group in the same molecule and an electron donative achromatic dye allowed to develop a color by the compd. in microcapsules. CONSTITUTION:Microcapsules housing a compd. having an electron accepting group and a photosetting group in the same molecule and an electron donative achromatic dye allowed to develop a color by the compd. are held on at least one side of a substrate. The photosetting group of the electron accepting compd. is a radical-polymerizable vinyl group and a photopolymn. initiator is contained in a photo-setting compsn. A basic compd. is carried outside the micro-capsules. This basic compd. is a high molecular compd. having basic groups in the side chain or principal chain.
