PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-image quality and high-productivity ink jet recorder which prevents ink from clogging at discharge openings, bleeds less and has a high drying speed. SOLUTION: In an imaging apparatus which discharges ink liquid drops by a piezoelectric discharge type head 14 with the use of the ink 50 having charged particles dispersed in a solvent, there are provided ink feed means 21, 22 and 23 for feeding and transferring the ink to a discharge head 10, a particle distribution control means 18 for controlling a distribution of particles in the ink within the discharge head, an image-receiving sheet support/transfer means for supporting/transferring an image-receiving sheet 30 which receives ink liquid drops 51 flying after discharged from a discharge head 10a, accelerating electric field-forming means 40, 42 and 44 for forming an electric field which accelerates the speed of flying ink liquid drops 51, and a discharge history storage/operation means 70 for storing and operating a discharge history of discharged ink liquid drops.
