PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base fabric for working a disk which performs highly accurate and yet stable working. SOLUTION: The base fabric for working a disk is a sheet type article including a fibre, and the base fabric is characterized in that it has bristles composed of ultrafine fibers on at least one surface side and the bristles are fixed with a soluble compound. Further, the fineness of the ultrafine fibers is 0.1 to 0.0001 dtex, the soluble compound is a high polymer compound and water-soluble, and in particular, it is preferable that the soluble compound is at least one compound selected from a group of carboxymethyl cellulose, polyvinyl alcohol, a polyacrylic acid, polyacrylamide, polyvinyl pyrrolidone, and a polyethylene oxide.
