PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pickup case supporting structure in which a pickup case can accurately be moved along guide shafts even in the case that the pickup case of a recording and reproducing device is made large in size, while reducing generation of abnormal sound caused by backlash between the bearings of the pickup case and the guide shafts, due to vibration. SOLUTION: Both side sections of a pickup case 310 are respectively supported by guide shafts 321 and 322 through rollers 61 and 72. Contact between the guide shafts 321 and 322 and elastic members is made into roll contact and driving force necessary to move the pickup case is reduced while securing pressing force necessary to reduce the abnormal sound.
