PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the influence of biases other than the bias applied to an image forming device, other than the bias applied to a means for detecting the amount of developer to be detected, when the amount of developer is detected by the capacitance detection in a color tandem image forming device having a plurality of image forming means. SOLUTION: The method for detecting the amount of developer in an image forming device comprises a bias control process which carries out a control so as to restrain or shut off a given bias other than the bias applied to the means for detecting the amount of developer X, when the amount of developer is detected by the means for detecting the amount of developer X, corresponding to a developer accommodation part 130C selected as an detection object.
