PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffer plate and a socket for placing a joint material by which an end of the buffer plate can be easily fitted to the socket even when a thickness of the buffer plate and a fitting channel of the socket to be fitted to it are formed without high accuracy, and the socket firmly holds the buffer plate after the fitting, causing no positional displacement upon placing. SOLUTION: The buffer plate and the socket 10A for placing the joint material have the fitting channel 12 having a cross-sectional U-shaped opening at an end side. A slit 14 is formed between each of end parts of holding walls 13a, 13b on the other end side of the fitting channel 12 and each of the end parts of facing side walls 31a, 31b of a space 31. The holding walls 13a, 13b of the fitting channel 12 are connected to the facing side walls 31a, 31b of the space 31, respectively, by flexible connecting parts 15a, 15b formed astride the slit 14 on the outside of the fitting channel 12.
