PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably make a water-level difference necessary for a dredging operation, by reducing the burden of the monitoring of the water-level difference and a water-level difference adjusting operation. SOLUTION: This water-level difference making cistern 14 for use in the operation of dredging a dam lake etc. comprises: a cistern body 140, the opened upper end of which is sunk into water in the state of floating up on the water surface of a reservoir; and a partition plate 15 which makes the inside of the cistern body 140 partitioned into two chambers, which makes either of the chambers formed as a water-level keeping chamber 16 for keeping the water level of dredging water in a position at a predetermined height from the top of a bottom plate 148, and which makes the other chamber of them formed as a drainage chamber 18 for discharging the dredging water, overflowing out of the water-level keeping chamber 16, to the outside of the cistern body 140.
