PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for electrowinning a metal having a large stress in electrodeposits, which prevents electrodeposited metal from spontaneously exfoliating and falling during electrolysis, when electrowinning the metal having the large stress in electrodeposits from an acidic aqueous solution containing the metal by electrodepositing the metal on a cathode, and can easily peel off the electrodeposited metal from the cathode in a separating operation after the electrolysis. SOLUTION: This electrowinning method is directed for electrowinning the metal by electrodepositing the metal on the cathode from the acidic aqueous solution containing the metal having the large stress by using an electrolytic tank provided with the cathode and an insoluble anode, and includes using a cathode which satisfies the following requirements (1) to (3), and separating the electrodeposited metal from the cathode by cutting a connecting part which has been formed in the inner part of a through-hole after the electrolysis. (1) The cathode is made from a material having superior corrosion resistance in the acidic aqueous solution. (2) The cathode has a surface roughness adjusted to 10 to 20μm in terms of a value expressed by five points standard roughness (Rz). (3) The cathode has the through-holes provided in at least four corners in the perimeter of the cathode so as to connect the electrodeposited metal on the both sides of the cathode during the electrolysis.
