GLOSS MEASURING APPARATUS AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gloss measuring apparatus capable of automatically selecting a reference corresponding to a measurement sample without particularly attaching a recording medium to the measurement sample when selecting a reference value corresponding to the measurement sample. SOLUTION: A gloss measuring apparatus 1 includes: a light irradiation part for irradiating the measurement sample with light; a light receiving part for receiving light that is irradiated from the light irradiation part and reflected from the measurement sample; a gloss characteristic deriving part 31d for deriving a predetermined gloss characteristic based on an output of the light receiving part; a reference memory part 34a for storing a plurality of gloss references respectively predetermined to a plurality of kinds of measurement samples that are different from one another corresponding to the predetermined gloss characteristic; a reference selection part 31e for selecting one gloss reference out of the plurality of gloss references based on the gloss characteristic derived from the gloss characteristic deriving part 31d; and a comparison part 31f for comparing the gloss reference selected by the reference selection part 31e with the gloss characteristics derived by the gloss characteristic deriving part 31d.
