A sealing material for a liquid crystal display device is provided to prevent the liquid crystal display device from being contaminated while ensuring sufficient hardening properties and adhesive properties. A sealing material for a liquid crystal display device comprises: a compound having an ethylene-based unsaturated group; epoxy resin having three or more epoxy groups within one molecule without any (meth)acryloyl groups; an epoxy hardener; and a photo-radical polymerization initiator having an oxime ester structure. The photo-radical polymerization initiator having an oxime ester structure is represented by the formula (d-1). In the formula (d-1), R^1 is hydrogen, phenyl or C1-C10 alkyl group; R^2 is hydrogen, phenyl or C1-C10 alkyl group; and R^3 is substituted or non-substituted carbazole group or Ph-S-Ph-CO-, wherein Ph is an aromatic group.
